Early 2023 Families

Everything is pretty good.

The kids are on summer break, I saw Taylor Swift, and this is a life changing book that I am reading: “The Awakened Family” by Dr Shefali Tsabary

Here are some favorites from recent family portrait sessions. Read More

autumn, etc

The past 6 weeks have been a beautiful breeze of celebrations and portrait sessions.

I put together a mix of my favorite shots of your family and mine, during the sweet season of Autumn. Read More

Revel in the adventurous unknown

I haven’t posted in a while, because I have just been IN it. It’s taking me longer to edit, because I am onto the next life moment, or playing with the kids.

I’m saying I have been busy, but in a great way. Fulfilling work picking up, a feeling of direction with my career, and loving the hell out of my kids.

Here is a batch of personal photos from late winter/early spring. Read More

a prophetic prickly pear

I’ve wanted to share a pregnancy -> 1st Birthday for a long time.

Because of the pandemic, I documented a lot more of our lives while Serena was hitching a free ride for 9 months. I even trained my (then) 5 year old the basics of how to use my camera.

If you see my face in a photo, then that shot was captured by Alex, my Elliott, or Emily. <3

Here’s our sweet and rebellious, little homebody’s first act. My sunshine, Serena Rose. Read More

Artist Series: Josh (and his beautiful family)

It’s Valentine’s day, with a Hazel shade of winter.

Josh is a painter, and he admits to being a painter in text, but is hesitant to say it in person.

There is something about legit saying you’re an artist. I think it lies in the spot between self-doubt and humble. A touch of warm natured self-torture? Your guess is as good as mine.

Josh is absolutely a painter, and a really talented one. So here we go: Read More

Winter Mini Sessions | Pine Hill Farms

I also shared some of the ways I enjoy learning, and some of the knowledge I have acquired as a result. Buuuuut focus on the photos <3 Read More

A free arrow and a stable bow

My girl Meg, the mother, wife, and babe fox in this series is also a fellow creative.

I asked if I could weave deeply personal lessons learned into her family portraits, and she told me to let it rip.

So here is this gorgeous, growing family…aaaand some lessons from my first ego death.

Autumn Mini Sessions | Soergel Orchards

Family portraits have become my favorite part of my career. It’s your kids. They’re that cool.

They are also funnier than most adults, more open to being thrown into the air, and they really appreciate the value of an M&M. Read More

Summer Highlight Reel

It was a great summer of portrait sessions, with friends from literally all chapters of my life. You just really have no idea when you befriend someone in 6th grade that you will photograph their family of five.

Or that buddy in college that you enjoy irritating people with, who’s got cupcakes and beer? Yeah, he will marry a beautiful woman and have twin daughters.

Life is cool. Read More

A Sunday Morning Session

Sunday Morning Sessions are the best, because you get photos and I eat your breakfast scraps.

Here are my favorites from a few weekends ago with this perfect little family. Read More
