Brendan Fraser, and the Parterre de Broderie
I might be slightly responsible for the recent global pandemic. I know. A whopper.
I had a hunch this would be my favorite wedding of the year. I didn’t know it would also be my only wedding of 2020.
So in the middle of Phipps, from the bottom of my heart, I thought: “I wish every single wedding was just like this.”
8 days later, the world shut down. (Homer Simpson moonwalk into hedge.)
Cassie and Justin stood in the middle of The Broderie Room at Phipps Conservatory, on Leap Day 2020.
They professed their love to one another, with only myself as the witness.
Here’s the best part: I couldn’t hear them. There was a loud fan that would require me to be 5 feet from them in order to hear.
So the profession of their love and vows are perfectly preserved just for them.
I slid my shoes off, and danced around the room, capturing this peaceful ceremony with no constraints.
The sunshine was pouring in around us.
I quietly enjoyed this perfect moment of silent intimacy.
I wished every single ceremony felt like this.
I wished every wedding was this euphoric.
Then we finished every perfect day with my favorite things:
Charcuterie, a beautiful Italian dinner, in a wine cellar downtown.
Add close family and friends. Open-and-shut case, of course I wished for this.
Plus, I love this couple. I am so glad this is how I wrapped up the first chapter of my career as a photographer.
Thank you, forever my Leap Day wedding, before we literally leapt over the entire rest of the year. xo
