Strawberry-covered chocolate cake, with the baker being a really cool emo kid. Scene as F.

We have close mutual friends, and yet have never hung out until now. ? (dumb)

Luckily, her sexy cakes brought us together, finally.

Lisa got bored during the pandemic and decided to become a talented baker.

She doesn’t even eat her cakes, because she’s been keto for 5 years.
She barely tastes them. She just knows they’re fucking delicious.
That’s confidence, baby.

AND it’s a lesson on self control…and/or she likes a little self-torment.
Both work for me.
You can imagine that I unabashedly threw myself at her as soon as I realized just how compatible we are, and always have been.

We were at the same high school with the same friends and somehow didn’t hang out.
We both love this girl ^ (more on her in a bit)

We were in the same pit, and crowd surfing at the same shows.

We shopped at the same thrift shops for our t-shirts.

We both got angsty in our childhood bedrooms with Taking Back Sunday blasting.
We were super compatible then, and we are today. Cake, tunes, and open conversation with our mutual friend, Emily.
This is Emily. MLE

She also has great taste in music, a great sense of humor, a cool daughter, and a really nice fiancé with an extensive vinyl collection. She has been fighting cancer for nearly a decade, and she’s brave, and real, and optimistic while she does it.

She has always been able to make you laugh during otherwise terrible situations.

She’s really fucking special. and she loves cake, too.
We switched coats for the better part of the winter of 2002-03.

We would drive around in her Honda Civic and listen to Justin Timberlake’s “Justified” album on repeat.

She boldly faced my abusive ex-boyfriend, and protected me relentlessly, with no judgment for my poor choice in boyfriends.

She is, and always has been awesome.
She’s also a pro at posing for senior portraits.
And Lisa and I could have been enjoying her together for YEARS. OY.
So anyways we’re fixing that.

Starting with this artist project. Baking, and getting baked.
Digital, and edible art.

The three of us spent the afternoon drinking coffee, and talking nonstop. About everything.

Music, mutual friends, our partners, our parents, our youths.

We revisited our teen and young 20’s shenanigans.

We critically analyzed if Chris Carrabba’s vibe is creepy now that he’s 46. And we agreed. It is.

We all named our kids after iconic movie characters, songs, and/or musicians.

Lisa has an encyclopedic level of knowledge on early 2000’s G-Unit and my 2017 genre of the year on Spotify was Trap. (bond grows stronger)

She also collects muppet memorabilia.

Okay I’m gonna zip my lip here for a moment, so you can enjoy the really relaxing part.

ooooooooooohhhh take me awaaaay caaaaake and lisaaaa

What if every portrait of every wedding cake I have ever taken was leading up to this moment?

Once baby girl was done casually making this masterpiece, Emily and I got to lounge on the couch with 3 layer chocolate cake like royalty.

Blink-182 playing in the kitchen.
Back in the high life again, like Steve Winwood.
And that’s why I love art.
This all happened because of art.

Lisa had time on her hands, made food into art, and then shared it with everyone.

A lovely benevolent baker, if you will.

Thank you so much, Lisa. You are awesome, and so talented (which makes sense because you’re a Leo, so ) <3

Here is to cake, photos, and emo shows abound.
