a prophetic prickly pear
I’ve wanted to share a pregnancy -> 1st Birthday for a long time.
Because of the pandemic, I documented a lot more of our lives while Serena was hitching a free ride for 9 months. I even trained my (then) 5 year old the basics of how to use my camera.
If you see my face in a photo, then that shot was captured by Alex, my Elliott, or Emily. <3
Here’s our sweet and rebellious, little homebody’s first act. My sunshine, Serena Rose.
Oh, so this requires some explaining.
This is around the time we really started to realize how sneaky Lex really was.
We couldn’t find the remote and we found it stuffed down her pants, so we couldn’t change her show.
Like she was two, okay? Mastermind.
He was teaching the baby to fist bump, since she couldn’t say hello yet.
He’s the big brother I always wanted.
He reads to them and gets them snacks, refills their water cups.
He watches Serena so I can change the laundry. He (sometimes reluctantly) includes Lexi when him and the boys play hockey. He’s my love.
Lexi refused to be in a photo with just me and Serena.
Because she wasn’t low key pissed at me, at all.
It subsided pretty quickly, once she realized she had a human baby doll.
Our beautiful little sunshine anarchist.
We love you and your mullet so much.
and maybe I was asking for it when I put Rage lyrics on your nursery wall.
Whatever, burn it down kid. Mommy loves you.
