velvet walls at the barbary coast
I flew out to San Francisco in August 2022 to photograph my friend’s wedding.
“Friend” feels impersonal because he is basically a younger brother to us.
It was no surprise when he met a phenomenal woman while they studied in Pittsburgh.
They are both kind and brilliant, and now they’re married and I got to be there. (brag)
I spent a couple extra days in the city, and took some time to myself.
Record shops, scouting for portraits, miscellaneous tacos, naps and evening walks downtown with my headphones on.
Stumbling into weird occult shops, having oddly kismet conversations with strangers, and enjoying the sunshine. Twaaaaas good. So here is my experience.
This is my younger brother from other parents, Hill:
Here is Haylee and Hill’s ceremony at San Francisco’s City Hall on a Thursday afternoon:
We celebrated with an incredible feast at Palette Tea House in Ghirardelli Square.
I was so wrapped up in the meal and getting to know their family that I only took a couple pics on my phone:
This was an unforgettable opportunity, and I am so honored to represent Hill’s American family.
We love you both!
Then I got back to daydreaming and exploring new parts of the city.
At night I’d dance around my hotel room and write down my ideas, and new wishes and things to work for.
My plans keep changing, and luckily, (for the most part) for the better.
I finally figured out my plans can be guidelines, and the benefit of taking time to figure out what I want, what I enjoy and what i love.
I also ate a lot of diner pancakes at odd hours of the day and night.
i’m really grateful. and thanks for looking at the stuff I see.
